After Oscar

Well, well. Loved the show as always. Yes there would be a lot of places to improve, but still. I somehow love all the big american shows anyway. They’re all so “unreal”, another world.

The bad thing though is, the Oscars get more and more real each year. Well, the whole world actually. It just sucks. Everything has to get political, anti captalism, anti big and so on.

This was the 80th anniversary, god damnit! And there was almost no glamor at all! Besides that, I love Jon Stewart, but still… he just doesn’t fit the Oscars. It’s way too much of making fun of everything.

As always the short time for the acceptance speeches suck hard. Man, what a great time it was when everyone talked as long as they needed to. Thank god Jon brought the singer for the Once song back on stage since she was cut off before the ads.

Anyway, still loved it and can’t wait for next year.

Oscars 2008

Finally it’s the time of the year again!
You can’t even believe how much I’m looking forward to Oscar night.
There’s Christmas and then there’s the Oscars.

It’s not that I particular care about who wins or something. Almost all of my favorite movies haven’t even gotten one Oscar and the ones getting a lot of those golden statues aren’t that great. Who cares?
I just love that night, the atmosphere, celebrating movies, the stars (hopefully De Niro will be there someday).

While everything in our world gets more and more ugly and “real” and less glamor it’s good to have something like the Oscars anyway.
Thank god the writers strike is finished by now, it would have been really awful to have a show like the Golden Globes. I worried a lot.
The only thing I’m not happy about though is that although I just wrote about glamor, it seams this year it still has too little of that. I mean, it’s the 80th fucking annual ceremony… 80 years. I expect something reeeeallly big, man. Sure I still have to wait for it to begin but somehow I don’t get the vibe.

By the way, people (who suck) always say they should shorten the Oscar show. I’d love to even have a longer show. I just can’t get enough of a night dedicated to movies. The thing I hated the most was when they added the 30 second “rule” for each speech (or one minute or whatever). I mean, come on. Please. So they thank a lot of people. Who cares. It’s so awkward to watch whenever they get interrupted by the music.

Anyway, as I said I can’t wait for the night (it starts at 2 am in the morning where I live by the way) to start…
Until it starts I’m gonna watch some movies, starting with “Open Range” (unfortunately “No Country For Old Men” won’t start until next Thursday in Germany).

Welcome

Hey everyone,

so this is it… This is my… guess what, blog! Yay.
Basically I will write down all my “thoughts” whenever I feel like it.
Most of those “thoughts” if not all of them will be about anything regarding entertainment.
Because that’s what my life is about. Movies, games and music.
Nothing else.

So have fun and take care,
Simon

The Witcher

Just wanted to let you know… That I’m finally really excited about a new game again… Well, not to speak of GTA 4, best game ever. But that, as we know, got delayed… Fortunately I have to say because I don’t have ANY time at all.

So, yeah. I knew two or three years ago, The Witcher is gonna be awesome and probably the first real good RPG in a loooooooooooong time. And if you should care about critics (I don’t) it seams it’s the best RPG since ages. Actually I’m the biggest RPG fan, yet I haven’t played more than four or five of them… Why? Because all the others suck.

Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 were great, so was Vampire The Masquerade Redemption. And while I just played 20 minutes of Neverwinter Nights (because my PC was too weak), that probably was a good one too. Other than that… Hm, I can’t really think of a really, really great one. And no, the Elder Scrolls games were awful, except for the soundtrack. Actually every “RPG” which has ego perspective, sucks and is no RPG after all.

So, yeah. I’m ordering The Witcher right now and should be able to play it soon… :)
And by the way, got my Transformers DVD from USA today . If I wasn’t ill, the first thing I’d do was watching it on Saturday.

Blade Runner

Well, as everyone intelligent knows there will be the “final cut” of masterpiece Blade Runner on a 5 DVD set soon and also special screenings of the movie in Los Angeles and New York. I didn’t even think about the possibility to see it here in Germany on the big screen… But guess fucking what! There’s ONE screening in one cinema in Munich! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay…. I still can’t believe it. It’s from 1982 so I couldn’t even see it on the big screen… and now, for the very first time I have the opportuniy to see of those really big masterpieces in the theatre… Unbelievable. I just hope I still get a ticket. Man, I have to gasp for breath.

Update 26th: I probably won’t ever really realize the impact this had on my life. Or better the lack thereof… But I’m fucking ill and wasn’t able to go to that screening.  I… just… can’t… believe it. My whole life plus one year I waited for this… basically… And now I didn’t/couldn’t grab the chance… Sad day, my friends… Sad day.

The Kingdom

Today I’m gonna see “The Kingdom”… Yaaay, finally. I was watching it no matter what but wasn’t looking forward to it that much until some days ago. Everyone said “damn, great movie” blabla… and I really thought we would be getting another one of those liberal “USA is the real enemy” kinda bullshit but then I read the review of Dan Goldwasser from Soundtrack.net and instantly my interest got much higher. Besides that it’s produced by Michael Mann AND it isn’t shot on digital film as far as I know. Always love some great war movie. Can’t wait til the afternoon. Quite a long time since I’ve been to the cinemas anyway… =(

“In a fall where most of the politically charged movies seem to be about how bad the USA is, it’s refreshing to see one which shows us who the real enemy is.”

PS: Still am so sad Lost 3 is over… and I’ll never able to see it again for the first time.. =(

Lost

Okay, just a quick note. I’m gonna watch the final four episodes of season three of Lost right now. Still can’t believe I’m actually doing this… got all episodes since months now… but am always too afraid of watching them… because they’re so fucking great… and I’ll never ever have the opportunity to watch them for the very first time. Lost is just such a masterpiece I can’t describe it. Anyway, finally going watch it now so I’m ready for season four in some time. There’s also news there are three more season until the very end…

Update: Just watched two of the last four episodes. One word: Breathtaking (as always). Doing a small pause for about 20 minutes… and then I’m gonna watch the last two episodes of this masterpiece. I just don’t get it every time how this can be that great the way it is… Unbelievable. Unfortunately I have a headache (like most saturdays), so actually I would have to postpone it to tomorrow.. but I just can’t wait any longer.

All I pray for to God is… then I will never get dissapointed by a future episode / season. Let this have a real worth masterpiece ending too.

I still can’t believe that today actually is the day… It’s no special day or anything… Well, now it became one… but yeah, first though about watching the last few episodes on my birthday… but it would have took to long and there would be too much of a risk of spoilers I guess… so, yeah… Today… Saturday October  13th 2007 at 8:00pm is the moment of the finale of season three of Lost.

Update October 14th: Still can’t believe it was one day ago I watched the finale of season 3 and again the best masterpiece series ever… To be perfectly honest during the last two episodes I thought once or twice about “mhmm… okay, it’s still the best series of course, but something… is missing…”.. and then… BOOOM…  the ending and it was so fucking breathtaking again. I just… can’t describe it… I just can’t. After the end I sat there for about 10 minutes without any movement. I think that pretty much sums it up.

Jumper

Didn’t expect ANYTHING. Just watched it because of Sam Jackson… And what do I get??? One of the best teasers in a long time. I usually don’t like sci-fi stuff and this movie seams to have a lot of that “superhero/whatever” stuff in it… but it looks so fucking interesting and great. Oh, and I love Rachel Bilson too…

Rescue Me Intro

Okay, it’s time to announce the best intro for a tv series.

I started to watch some episodes of Rescue Me (which is on air for a while already) . Not that great of a show… but the intro is awesome.

So go watch it. Thanks.

Globus’ Epicon

Found out about that CD… It’s out there for some time I think… but yeah, it’s by the creators of the most famous trailer music scores… and it sounds like it! Go buy it.
